Named the fastest growing district of outskirt or northwestern part Bangkok, Chaengwattana definitely made it to the top of the list. With the extension of public transportation and surrounded by many government facilities, this neighborhood is a new home to many residents. As it is said that the whole area around Chaengwattana especially Chaengwattana Government Center or Chaengwattana Immigration office and the Muang Thong Thani area has become very popular over the years in terms of being a commercial district and residential areas.

Chaengwattana, a location known as the center of government facilities such as Royal Thai Army Center, Immigration office and more. Located in Nonthaburi province or in the northeastern part of Bangkok and known for its rapid growth rate due to the expansion of the public transportation to the outskirts with distance of only 20 kilometers away from the city. It also has the potential to be an important source of trades. There are many educational institutions and nursing homes. Therefore, it is very suitable for living.

- Central Plaza Chaengwattana
Or known in a short term as Central Chaengwattana, a shopping complex from Central group located on Chaengwattana road. First opened in 2008 and has become a popular destination for the neighborhood. There’s plenty of restaurants, clothing stores, office floors and many more.
- Impact Arena Exhibition Hall
A commercial complex located in Muang Thong Thani consisting of multiple arenas in one area. Impact Arena Exhibition Hall is well known for organizing world-class events and international events from concert to exhibition and conferences.
- Beehive Lifestyle Mall
A diverse community shopping mall in Muang Thong Thani area, another considerate choice if one doesn’t feel like going to the central mall. Beehive Lifestyle Mall has a variety of stores from restaurants to groceries stores.

- Chaengwattana Government Complex
A hub of government agency located on Chaengwattana road. Consisting of government agencies and offices in one area for the example of a very well known immigration office where everyone is here for a passport and also expats for any immigration documents.
- Muang Thong Thani
One of the biggest residential development projects in Nonthaburi. Muang Thong Thani is located in Chaengwattana district surrounded by living properties, schools, and a shopping complex. And super convenient with the location close to the toll-way connected to other nearby neighborhoods.
Restaurants and Bars
- Hidden Backyard Cafe & Hangout
If you drive along Liap Khlong Prapa road, you will easily spot this open-space restaurant located on the street. This is one of the hangout spots of Chaengwattana residency. The restaurant offers various choices of food and a cozy atmosphere.
How to get to Chaengwattana
By Public Transportation
In the near future, you can easily travel to Chaengwattana with the MRT pink line which is currently under construction. The aim is for a better convenience of public transportation for northeastern and outskirt residency. It has a major connection with the MRT purple line and is scheduled to be opened by February 2023.
By Cars
Chaengwattana road plays a big role in Chaengwattana district. The area itself can be divided into 3 important sections connected to other neighborhoods of Ratchapruek road, Laksi and Bangken to RamIntra area.
Firstly, at the Pak Kret Intersection is a Rama IV Bridge that crosses the Chao Phraya River to connect Chaiyapruek road and Chaengwattana road altogether. Secondly is Pak Kret and Khlong Prapa intersection which starts from Pak Kret intersection through the bypass road of Muang Thong Thani Convention Center. The road directly crosses the canal passing into the area of Lak Si district in Bangkok. It is called Chaengwattana-Pak Kret road. And lastly, Khlong Prapa - Phithak Constitution Monument intersection which is starting from Khlong Prapa intersection or known as Chaengwattana-Prachachuen intersection through the Government Complex through Lak Si district via Vibhavadi Rangsit road which will then connect to Ramintra road.
Chaengwattana ’s upcoming landmarks
The MRT Pink Line Project of Khae Rai-Minburi district will play a big role in the Chaengwattana neighborhood. The government has pushed to open the service by 2023. According to the development plan, it will be a monorail system with a starting point connecting the Purple Line at Nonthaburi Government Center Station. And in the future it will connect to the MRT brown line of Khae Rai - Lamsalee running towards Tiwanon road.
How much the area cost in Chaengwattana
The growth in residentials investment in Chaengwattana is still not very high. However, it can generate rental and resale returns at reasonable and cost-effective levels over time and in the near future. The current price on the market is now 120,00-150,000 baht/sqm. (on October 23, 2022).
Also it was found that condominiums for rent in this area are quite affordable starting at 6,000-7,500 baht per month and 10,000 baht per month or more. The majority of the condominiums are the Studio and 1 Bedroom which does not exceed over 28-30 square meters.
