Tao Poon, The future of Bangkok Transportation

Get to know the Tao Poon neighborhood 

In the past before MRT Tao Poon was established, this neighborhood was a large community consisting of government offices, shopping malls, markets, furniture shops that stretched all the way to Bang Pho district. Since the beginning of MRT Bang Sue station and the expansion of the MRT Purple Line and MRT Blue Line with the MRT Tao Poon as an interchange station that connects the two lines together makes traveling through Bangkok city both inbound and outbound more convenient and way faster. 

There is also a large commercial and office building such as SCG's head office located at MRT Bang Sue station and Gateway Shopping Mall which is not too far from Tao Poon area. Those places help to increase convenience for residentials. It also increases the chances of generating a return on investment from rentals. The expanding of MRT station has helped to fill the neighborhood and get more popular among the years.

• Gateway Bang Sue Shopping Mall 

An urban shopping mall complex features many restaurants and clothing stores, Gateway Bang Sue is a top hangout spot for Tao Poon residency. You can actually walk from the MRT Tao Poon Station!

Landmarks and Business Districts 

• SCG’s Head Office 

SCG’s Head Office or main office is one of the first few sustainable buildings in Bangkok guaranteed by LEED Leading in Energy And Environmental Design from The United States of America. Located on Thai Cement Road, easy access via MRT Tao Poon station. 

• Bang Sue Grand Station  

Bang Sue Grand Station or so called Bang Sue Central Station aims to be Bangkok's new railway hub in the northern part of the city. It is linked to the MRT Bang Sue station which is just a few stops away from MRT Tao Poon.

How to get to Tao Poon

By Public Transportation

There are 2 major MRT stations in this area. The first one is the MRT Purple Line of Tao Poon-Khlong Bang Phai Section which connected Bangkok and Nonthaburi altogether. The second one is MRT Blue Line of Tao Poon-Tha Phra section and Chaloem Ratchamongkhon station which goes along the former MRT line of Bang Sue - Hua Lamphong station. In the future, we will see the expansion of the MRT Purple Line of Tao Poon - Rat Burana station and the MRT Southern Purple Line which is expected to open in 2026.

By Car 

There are 2 main roads in Tao Poon area which are Bangkok-Nonthaburi road and Pracharat Sai 2 road, with MRT Tao Poon located between the intersection of the two lines.

Bangkok-Nonthaburi road starts from Pracharat Sai 2 road aligned with Tao Pun intersection in Bang Sue District and ends at the Tiwanon and Nakhon In road at Tiwanon Intersection. And the second road is Pracharat Sai 2 road starting from Tao Poon intersection going through Bang Pho to the end at WongSawang intersection. You can also travel to the Tao Poon neighborhood  by using the expressway. In this area is Si Rat expressway located at the intersection that is slightly past the MRT Bang Son station.

Tao Poon’s upcoming landmarks 

Tao Poon district at the moment might not be seen as much going on in the area except the public transportation is growing. However, with a lot of predictions from investors, this neighborhood plans to be a new CBD of northern Bangkok as other main districts Silom or Satorn are getting crowded. And as a result of the expansion of major transit MRT lines and the under construction of mega projects of both office buildings and the National Assembly, we will see a lot of upcoming project landmarks in Tao poon for sure. 

How much the area cost in Tao Poon

Despite the rise of residential projects due to the expansion or MRT line, the cost of living in Tao Poon is still considered affordable. However most of the property development plans are mid-scale projects. The price is now currently at 115,000 baht/sqm. (on October 24,2022). The rental price could start from 6,000 baht/month and most accommodations are housing or low-rise condominium projects.
