When luxurious living meets the oasis of Bangkok

Getting to know one of the most historic neighborhoods in Bangkok which offers you a variety of lifestyle-living from cultural experiences to top dining landmarks and financial district spot, Silom is definitely a unique area for both locals and tourists to explore.

Get to know the Silom neighborhood

Silom neighborhood, or well known as Silom road, is one of the oldest districts in Bangkok, listed with a long history since the Rama IV era. Back then, it was a hub of international trading between Thailand and overseas, which leads to the reason behind why Silom is blooming for a financial area, and a mixture of local people who have lived there for a very long while.

Places you shouldn’t miss in Silom

Shopping Malls

  • Silom Complex

Direct access from BTS Saladaeng station and is filled with numerous restaurants, clothing stores, and grocery stores, Silom Complex is always busy throughout the day with locals, office workers, students, and expats in the area.

Landmarks

  • Lumpini Park

This Public Green Scenery is the heart of Bangkok city. The park combines a lake view and cycle track, which makes it a popular oasis spot for early risers to start the day by exercising here. It is also easily accessed by both BTS and MRT lines.
  • Neilson Hays Library

Neilson Hays Library is not only just a typical library since it also offers different kinds of creative activity such as studio workshops, art galleries, and a cafe.
  • Sri Maha Mariamman Temple

A very well known Hindu temple in Bangkok (or most people known as Wat Khaek), located on Pan road only one BTS station away from Silom. The design is very unique and colorful, and it is a very sacred Indian community. People usually pay a tribute or respect and wish for what they want.

Restaurants and Bars

  • Sky Bar at LeBua Tower

Featured in the famous Hollywood movie ‘Hangover Part Two’, Sky Bar at LeBua Tower made it to the top list of places you shouldn’t miss when visiting Bangkok. It is 820 feet above the ground and considered one of the highest rooftop cocktail bars in the world. Decorated with the old European-style building, it is a great, interesting architecture to visit.

How to get to Silom

By Public Transportation

Easy accessible with both BTS and MRT lines, BTS skytrain station of Saladaeng is where you should be if you want to visit Silom. Also, the BTS Silom line is considered the oldest BTS line of Bangkok. If you prefer the subway over skytrain, MRT Silom station is optional as well.

By Cars

Being a part of Bangkok’s downtown, Silom neighborhood could face a heavy traffic throughout the day and even doubled during the rush hour. Continuing directly from Narathiwas road, you will be connected to Sathorn with just a short distance away. A little bit further to the other side is Rama IV which leads you to Siam, and down to the north is Surawong road, you can access the old town side of Bangkok.

Silom’s upcoming landmarks

A mixture of financial district and a hub of cultural differences makes Silom more and more popular day by day, attracting investors to build a mix-use property and upscale condominium for residentials in the future. One of the biggest upcoming projects is Dusit Central Park, a new urban landmark of the neighborhood.

Dusit Central Park is a combination of 4 major attractions which are:

1) Dusit Thani Bangkok, a very well known hotel in the past, but now is under renovation, which should be ready to welcome the tourists again bigger and better in the future.

2) Dusit Residence, high-rise leasehold residences for those looking for a property with luxurious lifestyle.

3) Central Park Office, which connected both BTS and MRT, plans to be a new hub for the financial arcade and business district.

4) Central Park Shopping Mall, the 7-floor shopping mall with a highlight of Garden Roof Park to add more green scenery to Bangkok city.

How much does the area cost in Silom?

You will be surprised how much the area costs each year and still continue to grow. The current price on the market is now between 700,000-1,000,000 baht/sq. (as October 5th, 2022). Silom is probably one of the most expensive areas of Bangkok. We can’t deny that the rise of Ultra luxury hotels and Upscale condominiums makes this neighborhood’s cost of living double the price than most of the district.

Despite the rise of modern luxury buildings, Silom has a lot of living styles from low-rise condominiums, townhouses, to upscale penthouse. The price can range from 15,000 baht to a six-figure per month.
